KAMP LOVELearn More about Kamp Love
Kamp Love's Mission
Our mission at Kamp Love is to transform student’s lives by the gospel through camping, connection, community & Christ.
In Camping, we find communion with God by adventuring out into His creation to seek refuge and retreat in Him.
In Connection, we look outside of ourselves to one another; seeking to build meaningful relationships through extending a hand of divine invitation, welcoming friends and strangers alike.
In Community, we give of ourselves to one another in deep and meaningful relationship, building on earth as it is in heaven as a family in Christ.
In Christ, we have everything we could ever need. He is our Lord & Savior, and He is the cornerstone of our lives. He is who saves us, frees us, heals us and sends us into a life of making disciples who make disciples.
Kamp Love's Model
Our model is intentionally curated to best empower and equip student leaders to develop their supernatural gifts and talents, serve their peers and reach their campus for Christ.
Kamp Love is an engine for all of things God loves to do through His people when we are intentional about playing all out with our God given supernatural gifts and passions.
We are a 100% student lead missions campus organization, on purpose. We do this to combat “hit and run” ministry. We want to see a move of God both IN and THROUGH students on college campuses. By training up student leaders to do the work of ministry, we are training up the next generation of Christian leaders in the Church and the Marketplace.
Kamp Love's History
Kamp Love started as a friend group camping trip called “Camp Lope” out of Grand Canyon University. The purpose of the trip was to get out of Phoenix, into creation, and into connection with other students to share the good news of Jesus and create authentic community.
Jarod Lovekamp was a student at GCU who was instrumental in the growth and building of Camp Lope. On September 29, 2020, Jarod unexpectedly went to be home with the Lord. To honor Jarod and the life he lived for the gospel, Camp Lope was renamed to Kamp Love.
God shared His heart with Jarod’s friends to “dream big” for what might be for Kamp Love. Within a month, Kamp Love became an official nonprofit and has plans to be a college ministry that transforms students’ lives all over the country. Kamp Love exists as the model for a spiritual formation retreat.
The model of “camping” looks different from time to time and place to place, but the mission to “transform student’s lives for the gospel through camping, connection, community and Christ” stays the same throughout.
Kamp Love's Heart
At Kamp Love, God is worshipped, the good news of Jesus Christ is preached, connections are made, and authentic, discipleship focused community is founded. We believe that God uses Kamp Love to be a catalytic moment in student’s lives that serves as the spark to transform student’s lives by the Holy Spirit.
Although accountable to and deeply connected to the local church, Kamp Love does not exist to serve student’s as the local church. As each Kamp is built out, we are intentional to connect with local church leaders and have them serve alongside us at Kamp, and serve alongside us in discipleship of students after Kamp.
